What Is Tetraploa SP?

Tetraploa is a genus of rare fungi that are in the order Pleosporales. Although we haven’t discovered many species of this genus yet, the ones we have are pathogens of plants, animals, and humans.

History of Tetraploa SP

In 1912, the genus tetraploa was erected by two German mycologists who were conducting studies to find out all local pathogens that cause keratitis.

Later on in the 20th century, several scientific studies conducted on the newly discovered genus proved most of its species are related to Diplocladiella and Triposporium.

Furthermore, those same studies also described tetraploa sp as a human pathogen, as it can lead to diseases like keratitis and subcutaneous infection of the knee.

Since the late 20th century, no significant studies have taken place on the tetraploa genus.

Symptoms of Diseases Caused By Tetraploa SP

Since different species of the genus tetraploa can lead to different health issues, the symptoms vary depending on the condition we’re talking about.

However, in the vast majority of cases, tetraploa sp causes fungal keratitis — which is an infection of the eye with the following symptoms:

  • Eye pain
  • Eye redness
  • Blurred or decreased vision
  • Photophobia (sensitivity to light)
  • A feeling that something is stuck in your eye
  • Excess tears or other discharge from your eye
  • Pain and irritation that makes it difficult to open your eyelid

Although none of those symptoms are serious, health experts say that fungal keratitis can lead to permanent eye damage if it’s not treated right away.

How You Can Treat Tetraploa SP

Since tetraploa sp is developing resistance to antibiotics, there’s no knowing whether the medicine that can treat it today will work tomorrow.

Currently, doctors typically prescribe antifungal drugs like amphotericin B, ketoconazole, or itraconazole to treat an infection caused by tetraploa sp.

All that being said, unless you’re already suffering from a disease caused by a species of the genus tetraploa, you shouldn’t be worrying about the treatment.

You should be worrying about how to prevent the disease.

Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So why not take safety precautions right now, so you won’t have to face the risk of facing a problem caused by tetraploa sp?

If you’re now wondering what safety precautions we are talking about, disinfecting your home and workplace with a solution that can kill tetraploa sp is all you need to do.
