What Is Taeniolella SP?
Taeniolella is a genus of widespread anamorphic fungi in the family Mytilinidiaceae. Most of its species are classified as dematiaceous (dark-walled) fungi.
History of Taeniolella SP
In 1958, a British mycologist named Stanley John Hughes discovered the genus taeniolella at the Commonwealth Mycological Institute in Kew, England.
He studied the new genus and found out that its species are contaminants and pathogens of plants, animals, and humans. However, he could prove only little about their toxicity and allergenic properties.
In the late 20th century, scientists in different parts of Europe, including Germany, France, and Belgium, conducted several studies to find out more about taeniolella sp.
Their studies revealed and proved that all species of the genus taeniolella are pathogens and not even one of them is desirable or of any use.
Symptoms of Diseases Caused By Taeniolella SP
Since different species of the genus taeniolella can lead to different health issues, the symptoms vary depending on the condition we’re talking about.
However, in the vast majority of cases, taeniolella sp causes fungal infections, which can affect several parts of the body, and their symptoms vary accordingly.
For instance, if it affects the foot, you will get athlete’s foot, which has following symptoms:
- Peeling or cracking skin
- Redness or blisters on the affected area
- Itching, stinging, or burning sensations in the infected area
Whereas, if it affects the vagina, you will get a yeast infection, which has the following symptoms:
- Itching or swelling around the vagina
- Redness or soreness on and surrounding the vagina
- Burning sensations or pain during urination or intercourse
Although none of those symptoms are serious, health experts say that fungal infections can lead to permanent damage to the infected area if they’re not treated right away.
How You Can Treat Taeniolella SP
Since taeniolella sp is developing resistance to antibiotics, there’s no knowing whether the medicine that can treat it today will work tomorrow.
Currently, doctors typically prescribe antifungal drugs like amphotericin B, ketoconazole, and itraconazole to treat an infection caused by taeniolella sp.
All that being said, unless you’re already suffering from a disease caused by a species of the genus taeniolella, you shouldn’t be worrying about the treatment.
You should be worrying about how to prevent the disease.
Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So why not take safety precautions right now, so you won’t have to face the risk of facing a problem caused by taeniolella sp?
