What Is Chromelosporium SP?

Chromelosporium is a genus of widespread fungi belonging to the family Pezizaceae. It has over 20 species, most of which are plant pathogens.

History of Chromelosporium SP

Although we don’t know the exact year when the genus chromelosporium was first described, historians believe it was somewhere in the early 19th century.

Recent research in the late 20th century has revealed a lot about this genus, including the fact that it’s most closely related to Amphobotrys and Botrytis.

Most species of chromelosporium are an asexual phase of Peziza (a cup fungus and Ascomycete) and are commonly found in greenhouses growing on sterilized soil or vermiculite, in pots and flats.

Furthermore, although chromelosporium species are common in soil, we don’t know much about them. For instance, we have not yet studied their allergenicity.

However, even though there’s little we know about this mysterious genus, what we do know is that it can in rare cases lead to infections in humans, including fungal infections.

If you get an infection due to chromelosporium sp, the best course of treatment is antifungal drugs.

Symptoms of Diseases Caused By Chromelosporium SP

Since different species of the genus chromelosporium can lead to different health issues, the symptoms vary depending on the condition we are talking about.

However, in the vast majority of cases, chromelosporium sp lead to fungal infections — which typically have some of the following symptoms:

  • Pimple-like bumps
  • Scaly skin or blisters
  • Patches that ooze clear fluid
  • Redness in the groin, buttocks, or thighs
  • Chafing, itching, or burning in the infected area
  • A red rash with a circular shape and raised edges

Although none of those symptoms are serious, health experts say that fungal infections can lead to permanent damage to the infected part if they’re not treated right away.

How You Can Treat Chromelosporium SP

Since chromelosporium sp is developing resistance to antibiotics, there’s no knowing whether the medicine that can treat it today will work tomorrow.

Currently, doctors typically prescribe medicines like amphotericin B and flucytosine to treat a fungal infection caused by any species of the genus chromelosporium.

All that being said, unless you’re already suffering from a disease caused by chromelosporium sp, you shouldn’t be worrying about the treatment.

You should be worrying about how to prevent the disease.

Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So why not take safety precautions right now, so you won’t have to face the risk of facing a disease caused by chromelosporium sp?

If you’re now wondering what safety precautions we are talking about, disinfecting your home and workplace with a solution that can kill chromelosporium sp is all you need to do.
